• Dream Big with PACT Pajamas

As a mom, I always want to do the best for my child. I want to use the best and safest products for them. When my second daughter was an infant, we discovered that she had eczema. My youngest was later diagnosed with it as well. I started researching the best ways to help their skin stay smooth and comfortable. I didn’t want to just treat eczema when it came up, I wanted to avoid it rearing it’s miserable head at any point. Some of the biggest tips were to eliminate dairy, use lotions without any added fragrances and completely clean ingredients, and use organic cotton pajamas. **This is not medical advice, just what I found in my research.**

I received this product for free from Moms Meet (momsmeet.com) to use and post my honest opinions. Compensation for this post was provided and this page may contain affiliate links.

Needless to say, when this package showed up at my door, I was thrilled. Pact sent their Dream Big Pajamas for us to try out! I have heard about the PACT brand for quite a few years, but had never taken the plunge on purchasing anything. I have filled up many a shopping cart on Pact’s website. I got an adorable set of Pact Dream Big Pajamas for one of my children for this blog post. I loved them so much that I bought more for the rest of my children almost immediately. They had to be matching, of course. This combination is Rainbows and Tea Rose.

Not only are the prints on these adorable, but they are also so soft. One of my children declared that they wanted their pillows to be made out of these pajamas, so that tells you how soft they are! Since we spend so much time in our pajamas, it is important that they are comfortable and free from anything that can further irritate eczema. Most children spend approximately half of the 24 hours of their day in pajamas. Being a homeschool family, my kids often don’t change out of their pajamas when we start school. Comfy Cozies forever!

I feel good knowing that what is against their skin, the largest organ, is not harmful to them.

    That post-pool hair life.

We know that the Dream Big Pajamas are incredible. But, let’s learn more about the Pact brand, shall we? Pact is a fair trade certified company– meaning that the producers in developing countries are paid a fair wage. I know that it is a big buzzword (buzz phrase?) at the moment, but it is so important to support companies such as Pact who are doing such great work.

PACT is the Earth’s Favorite Clothing company. The cotton used is also GOTS (Global Organic Textile Standard) certified organic cotton– free from toxic chemicals. (Did you know that traditional kids pajamas are sprayed with a toxic flame-retardant that is incredibly harmful? Please don’t just take my word for it, do the research.) Anything that you put on your skin will be absorbed into your bloodstream. That includes any chemicals that are used in clothing and pajama production. I love that Pact is free from this toxicity. They also use 91% less water than conventional cotton production. This helps to save the earth’s most valuable resource– water. Pact is so environmentally friendly, and I love that. We were only given one beautiful earth, and everyone should do their part to take care of it.

Dream Big Pajamas are so soft. Have I mentioned that already? You know how stiff and uncomfortable most pajamas like this are. They have snug fit with a pull on waistband and banded cuffs at the wrists and ankles. Dream Big Pajamas have a tag free design, which makes them even more comfortable. No itchy tags to bother your children– especially those who are sensitive to sensory stimuli. They are available in sizes 18 months to 10. For reference, my oldest (in pink) typically wears a size 12 and is wearing the 10. My middle daughter is also wearing a 10, which is her usual size. My youngest is wearing a 7, and typically wears a 6. I prefer to give them some growing room, but these do seem to run a bit big. The fabric is pre-washed and shrink resistant. We’ve been wearing and washing them for a month, and have had no shrinking or pilling. These are quality pajamas.

They typically retail for $30, but you can currently get 20% off your first purchase with the code MomsMeet20 until December 31, 2021. You can purchase them at wearpact.com. This code is only valid on first time purchases and is not valid on any sale items or in combination with any other discount.

Pact makes clothing, pajamas, and underwear for children, babies, men, and women. They even have some bedding. Pact has a “fit happens guarantee” and will take care of you if you aren’t happy with your purchase. (You will be!) I CANNOT recommend these pajamas enough.

  • Gut Connection™ Kids

I am really excited, because I get to share something fun with you today! We are all looking into ways to take better care of our bodies this year. My kids have been using Gut Connection Kids by Country Life for about a month now, and we are all loving it. It is a prebiotic, which I like to say is the red carpet being rolled out. A prebiotic helps to stimulate the growth of good bacteria in your gut. It is great to take alongside your regular probiotic, or on it’s own.

I received this product for free from Moms Meet (momsmeet.com) to use and post my honest opinions. Compensation for this post was provided and this page may contain affiliate links.

I am a firm believer that most of our overall health is tied to the health of our gut. If you’ve been around this blog for any amount of time, you probably already know that. Study the microbiome and you will be amazed.

Gut Connection Kids has specifically formulated prebiotics to meet your needs. There is digestive balance, cognitive balance, immune balance, and sleep balance to choose from. You can focus on one area, or mix them up to focus on multiple

I am all about helping boost cognitive function in my kiddos. Hello, homeschooling! We immediately opened up that package and got to trying them out. My kids were especially excited that these prebiotics were elephant shaped. We went on a short camping trip recently, and took the immune boost prebiotic with us. While we were still incredibly cautious, we appreciated the extra boost. Every kid needs a digestive boost every now and then. I’m so thankful there are so many options. My kids have all said that they like the flavor of these. They describe them as sour. My six year old would eat them like candy if I let her. (Don’t let your kids eat them like candy..)

The sleep balance may be my favorite. Anything that helps my daughters get a good night of sleep is alright in my book. This can be blended with milk for a chocolate drink before bed. Or, you can make it into a treat as a smoothie. Here is a fun recipe for you to try!

  • Let’s Talk About Immune Support

The school year is starting for many people. This is always a great time to start stocking up on immune boosting products. Cold and flu season is coming. We won’t even talk about the C-word.

It should go without saying that I am not a doctor. I am simply sharing what our family does to give us a boost through the year. Consult your physician if you have questions.

Obviously, the most important is to eat a healthy and balanced diet. Try to eat REAL foods and less packaged/processed. Spend plenty of time outdoors and getting exercise.

Multi-Vitamin— Scott and I take the Thrive Market brand of multi-vitamins. I subscribe and save to these on Amazon for the kids. This helps to fill in the gaps that we may be missing with our diet.

Probiotic— I am such a huge believer in gut health. So much of our overall health stems from our gut! We do tend to switch up with probiotics we take, just so we make sure that we are getting a good variety. Currently, the kids take this one and I take this one. It’s time to switch it up again.

ElderberrySambucol is our go-to brand. I trust it. The kids love it. I love it. We’ve used the syrup, the gummies, the pastilles, and more. (Start buying it now, because it always sells out in November/December!) I also make my own elderberry syrup with these dried berries.

Zinc— I’ve recently added this to my supplements. I work in a public place, and even with current restrictions in place, I want an extra boost.

Vitamin C— I mix this into our drinks. It is tasteless and easier for our bodies to absorb than a lot of Vitamin C supplements.

Congaplex— If I feel like I’m starting to come down with something, I will take this. It is available for a better price from your naturopath or if you know someone with an account.

Water— Drink water!! Sugar feeds the bad bacteria and can cause you to get sick easier. If it takes getting a cute water bottle to carry to get you to drink more, do it. It’s worth it.

It is an investment in your health. On the occasions that our kids do get sick, they bounce back so quickly. I fully believe that’s because we are proactive when it comes to their health and wellness.

  • Dreams Come to Life

It is so hard to believe that this is all coming to life. Years and years ago, we started dreaming of living on a farm, and having our own mini-homestead. We are talking 7 or 8 years ago of hoping and dreaming. Years of container gardening on a patio.

Here we are. We have seeds started indoors. We have some of the early plants in the ground already– praying the sudden and unexpected freeze didn’t kill them. We have other seeds that you sow directly in the soil. The dream is slowly coming to life. A couple of years ago, I was sent a free water bath canning kit– with the big pot and utensils– from Ball Jars, and I can’t wait to make jam with our blueberries, cherries, and strawberries. That is, if my kids don’t eat them all before we get them inside. PS– this book is a life saver if you are new to canning. You get instructions for EVERYTHING.

It is all just such a blessing. It is not lost on me for one second how fortunate we are. We are fortunate that we bought heirloom seeds and two small raised bed kits last year. We are fortunate that God placed this home in our hands. We are fortunate that we have established apple and cherry trees in the yard. We are fortunate that Scott is “essential” and still has a job for the time being. I’m able to work from home for now. The future is so unknown for all of us, so we are doing our best to be wise and plan well.

The only dream on hold is chickens. We don’t feel that we are completely prepared. I’ve been trying to convince Scott that we need some baby emus. So far, he’s not going for it. 😉 I want to feel confident before we bring chicks home to raise, and I’m just not quite there yet. I’m afraid we would end up with all roosters, and I want none of that. I also want to make sure we have a GOOD system in place for winter.

For years, I’ve been reading and researching what it takes to homestead. Did you know that you don’t have to have a big farm to be a homesteader? Small baby steps can get you there. Bake your own bread. Grow your own spices in a small window box. You can grow a big tomato plant in a pot on your porch. Most communities have a local farmer that you can buy eggs, meat, and produce from.

I read this article recently, and I really encourage you to read it.

Here are a couple of good resources to help you learn–

The Prairie Homesteader gives great tutorials on just about everything you could need.

    Homesteaders of America

  • Homesteaders to Follow

Hey, friends! How is everyone? It’s the first day of Spring, so let’s celebrate that!!

If you’ve been around for a while, you know that I have a passion for homesteading. It’s something that I have wanted to do for a long time. I started out by learning how to bake my own breads, canning, and container gardening. With several recent moves under our belts, we aren’t quite as far into the process as we hoped. We moved much later last year than initially planned, so we didn’t get a garden in the ground or chickens in the coop. We do have our seeds bought and soil, so we are going to get that going very soon.

I thought that I would share my favorite homesteading accounts for those of you who are wanting to gain some homesteading skills. The list is small, but they have offered so much information! Don’t overwhelm yourself.

The Prairie Homestead— my mom introduced me to Jill’s youtube channel last year. She is so good at explaining everything. She recently started a podcast and published a cookbook. Her cookbook is so much more than recipes and I honestly cannot recommend it enough!!

The Elliott Homestead— Shaye is where I first started when learning about homesteading. She isn’t just passionate about farming, but also beautiful things. Her flower gardens are always so beautiful. Her home is so cozy. Their youtube channel is really great, and so is her book Welcome to the Farm.

Homesteaders of America— this one is new to me. Starting on Monday, they are going to do a “how to grow your own food” series on YouTube based on Victory Gardens. I’m so excited to learn more!!

Homesteading does not have to be done on a huge plot of land. All you need is a kitchen. Start by learning how to bake a loaf of bread. Start with a fresh herb plant. Don’t overwhelm yourself by trying to learn everything at once.

  • Kid Smart

Let’s talk Fish Oil! By now, everyone has probably heard of it– but how much do you know? We’ve all heard that it is good for our hearts and brains, but why? This article is really great about the benefits of adding fish oil to your diet and the science behind it.

Bioglan Kids Smart Omega-3 fish oil has made its way into our vitamin lineup. Our kids take daily multivitamins, probiotics, and elderberry. Now, they get a fun fish added in– and they honestly look forward to it.

At first, I thought there was no way I was going to convince them to take fish oil. I always pictured it tasting fishy and gross, to be completely honest. But, I know the importance of taking fish oil– especially in a family with a huge history of heart disease. I tried Kid Smart burstlets before offering them to my kids, and I was so surprised! It is fruity and delicious with NO fishy taste whatsoever! It didn’t take any convincing for them to love it. You can snip or twist the tail off and squeeze it into your mouth, or eat it as is.

Fish oil provides two essential omega-3 fatty acids: docosahexaenoic acid (DHA) and eicosapentaenoic acid (EPA). As both are essential fatty acids our bodies cannot produce, it is important that we get them from either the food we eat or supplements. If you don’t like fish, a fish oil supplement is the perfect solution!

So, why chose Kids Smart fish oil over other brands on the market? Well, Kids Smart High DHA Fish Oil Chewable Burstlets provide up to 10x more fish oil than other kids’ supplements. There are 500 mg of fish oil, 133 mg of DHA, and 28 mg of EPA in each burstlet! That’s a LOT of brain boosting power! They are free of gluten, yeast, wheat, and dairy– a huge bonus for this food allergy mama! Not only are they really good for my children, they have been fun for them to take!

We start our day with breakfast and our vitamins and supplements. For those who don’t know, I am a homeschooling parent. I have been able to get a front row seat to the difference in my children’s learning with an Omega-3 supplement added in. We are up against dyslexia and ADHD in our home. I’ve seen a positive change in my child’s focus and grades– and that is just my experience. I’m not a doctor. If you have concerns, please be sure to talk to your doctor or naturopath.

You can connect with Kids Smart on Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, and Realhealth.com to keep up with new information and brand announcements!

Kids Smart High DHA Fish Oil Chewable Burstlets can be purchased on Amazon. Save 20% when you purchase a 30-count bottle of Kids Smart High DHA Fish Oil Chewable Burstlets on momsmeet.link/kidssmartamzn Amazon with the promo code 20MM20KS. This offer ends March 14, 2020.

  • Relax – Regroup – Recharge

I received this product for free from Moms Meet (momsmeet.com) to use and post my honest opinions. Compensation for this post was provided and this page may contain affiliate links.

This package was one of the most exciting ones that I’ve received this year!

Raise your hand if you have been curious about CBD oil. Great! If you want more information about what CBD is, you can go here.

I had been so intrigued by it after hearing so many success stories. I suffer from HORRIBLE insomnia. I was prescribed a medication for it. The medication had not-so-great side effects. I was sleep-shopping and having so many random things show up at my doorstep. I didn’t remember buying them and some could not be returned. Needless to say- I quit taking that medicine. But, that left me feeling miserable and lacking in sleep. I also get restless legs at night. If you suffer from it, you know how miserable it is.

After quitting the prescription, I started taking a common allergy medicine to help me fall asleep at night. I felt so sluggish the next day. Without anything to help me sleep, I spend hours trying to fall asleep. I wake up so many times through the night and am unable to fall back asleep. I was exhausted and so frustrated.

The CBD PM tincture has been so great for me. I have been using it for a month, and feel like I can give an honest review. To use, I fill the dropper with the tincture and place it under my tongue for 30-60 seconds before swallowing. Be sure to use it 30 minutes before for the best effect. I have been able to settle into sleep without my legs crawling– and without taking any additional medicine to help me fall asleep. I still wake up throughout the night, but I am able to fall back asleep relatively easily. The mint taste is honestly a little strong for me, so I prefer the unflavored.

I take cbdMD premium CBD oil during the day to maintain my general well-being. The bath bombs have also been so good. When I was sick, I soaked in the tub with a relax bath bomb and it was so wonderful.

I HIGHLY recommend giving these products a try. I am a sceptic by nature, and didn’t know if it was really going to work for me. I am so thankful that I was proved wrong.

The cbdMD is THC free* and third party tested for quality. It will NOT get you high, as I know many are concerned about this. You can go here and see the process that cbdMD uses.

I was shocked at how many products that cbdMD has! They even have a pet line!! You can use the promo code MOMSMEET to save 15% on your cbdMD order at cbdmd.com. Offer ends March 31, 2020. Free shipping on all orders.

*THC-free means not detectable below the lowest level that can be consistently detected in dietary supplements using valid scientific analytical tools.

I am not a medical professional, and you should seek out your doctors advice if you have any concerns. This is my experience with using cbdMD products.

  • How We Fight Sickness Naturally

I had to call in sick to work today. I’m really upset about it. I woke up with a fever and feeling miserable. Harper wondered into our room after Scott left for work– also running a fever. Two hours later Addi woke up and was ghost white. She felt like she was going to be sick.

Because I’m a mom, I don’t get to just lay around and rest. I keep sitting and taking breaks in between dishes, laundry, cooking, etc. because I’m really struggling to breathe. I snapped a quick picture of all of my arsenal that I pull out when I’m sick. Most of it also gets used for the kids. I figured I’d share while I’m sitting and eating.

First of all, I’ll share what’s not pictured–
I took a detox bath to help with the body aches. I used lavender epsom salts and Indian healing clay in the bath tub. It’s important to drink a lot of water when you do any sort of detox. I also take a multivitamin every day along with prebiotics and probiotics.

Amazing Grass Green Superfood– these effervescent tablets dissolve in water. It’s an easy way to pack in more greens and nutrients to help fight off illness.

Nuun Hydration– These are a REALLY good alternative to gatorade. It’s not full of garbage ingredients. Liquid IV is another one I really love. It really helps with hydration.

Sambucol elderberry syrup— this is our go-to when we feel anything coming on. All of the kids take this without any issues. Some of them don’t love the sugar free kind. There are also gummies if your kiddos would prefer those.

Oscillococcinum– All of us use this also. It’s good for kids ages 2 and up. I haven’t used this a ton (thanks to not being sick very often anymore), but so far I’m a fan. It is supposed to help with aches, fever, chills, and fatigue. Between the detox bath and this, I’m feeling quite a bit better than I was this morning. And, that is without tylenol or motrin!

Congaplex– This is the only thing that only I do. This is something that you can take when you feel something coming on. I felt off all week, and am kicking myself for not taking this right away. This help support your immune system.

Essential Oils– Thieves oil is ALWAYS my go-to for supporting our immune systems. I have it diffusing in every single room right now. I also have a roller bottle of thieves, oregano, and lemon that we roll on our feet and spines. Tummygize is awesome for little upset tummies. Addi put some on her belly this morning, and she started feeling much better. Snifflease is another favorite. It helps unclog stuffy noses and support their respiratory systems. The girls know that these oils help and will ask for specific things.

Obviously, I do take and give fever reducers if they are needed. But, I always try to support our bodies the way that God made them as often as possible.

What are some tricks that you keep up your sleeve? Is there anything that I am missing?

  • Digestive Health with Country Life

If you don’t already know– I am a HUGE proponent of pre- and probiotics. Our bodies are made up of bacteria, which is called our microbiome. There is good bacteria that helps keep us well, and bad bacteria that causes us to get sick. I have heard SO many people say that they are hesitant to believe that prebiotics really help. I encourage you to try it for one month. See the difference.

With the rise of prescriptions for antibiotics, our society’s gut health has gone downhill. Antibiotics kill ALL bacteria– good and bad. So, it is really important to replace the good bacteria in our bodies. Prebiotics feed the probiotics in your body. There is obviously a much better, technical description. But, I want to make it easy to understand. I also should say that I am NOT a doctor. None of this information is given to diagnose, cure, or treat. I am just sharing my experience with you.

It is so important to fill our bodies with the good stuff. Prebiotics and probiotics help us fight off infection, keep our digestive system regular, and can even help with your skin health!

When I was given the opportunity to try Gut Connection from Country Life, I jumped. Let’s just say that I could use a little help in this area. Having babies really messed up the way my body functions in a lot of ways. My hormones are so out of whack thanks to early perimenopause, and I began wondering if I was ever going to feel “normal” again.

I started off taking the full dose— four capsules a day. That can be risky and cause other digestive issues for you, so maybe start off with just one or two per day and add more if you need to. I didn’t have any problems with the full dose. I have been taking them for several weeks now, and I have noticed a HUGE difference. In fact, the days that I have forgotten to take my digestive balance prebiotics, I feel it.

I have never been a “regular” person (I am trying to avoid being crude here) but with these I finally am. I don’t feel uncomfortable or bloated. Things have honestly been night and day for me in the best possible way. I know that many other women struggle with this very same thing– especially after giving birth. You guys, I have to really love you and want the best for you to even vaguely discuss this. Country Life has a special gut journal so that you can track your progress while taking these prebiotics! It’s amazing to see the difference.

Here, you can see the ingredients. What I love about Country Life’s Gut Connection prebiotics, is that I don’t have to refrigerate them. Fridge space is a precious commodity in this house. Any time that I can save on space is a precious gift to me.

One of my favorite parts of Country Life’s Gut Connection line is that they have a scientifically formulated range of supplements that connects the gut to individual health issues that matter. Some of the specially formulated prebiotics are immune balance, sleep balance, weight balance, and so many more. Gut Connection by Country Life contains an innovative, whole food fermentate prebiotic that feeds the existing probiotics in your gut and helps maintain its lining. Gut Connection is different because it is probiotic-free, so you can take it alone or with your favorite probiotic!  Isn’t that awesome?!

You truly get what you pay for. A bottle of Gut Connection by Country Life has a typical retail value of $44.95. I know that you can go to the grocery store and pick up a cheap bottle of prebiotics. But, they do NOT help you at all. Do you want to know how I know this? Experience. If you TRULY want to invest in your health, invest in quality supplements. It makes all the difference.

I would never recommend something if I didn’t truly love and believe in it. Country Life’s Gut Connection is a brand that I can 100% stand behind and recommend. Country Life also has a ton of great information on their website if you want more information.

Gut Connection by Country Life is available to purchase at Sprouts, The
Vitamin Shoppe, Natural Grocers Vitamin Cottage, and Amazon, and will be
coming soon to other natural health food stores. To find Gut Connection by
Country Life in your area, visit countrylifevitamins.com/where-to-buy for the full list of locations. Give your store a call to verify that they carry Gut Connection by Country Life. They even have a money-back guarantee if the Gut Connection doesn’t work for you!

  • Allergy Relief with Similasan

Hello from the deep valleys of allergy season. My entire family suffers from allergies– especially here in the Midwest. In fact, I just got an alert on my phone “A high pollen alert has been issued for your current location”. Itchy eyes. Stuffy noses. Itchy throats. Dry coughs. Ear Aches. You name it, someone in my home is suffering with it.

When Moms Meet gave me the opportunity to try Similasan eye drops, I jumped; practically begged them to pick me. My husband and I have had such itchy eyes. For him, it is a year round misery.

On the day my package arrived, I was nursing a killer sinus headache. The trees were just starting to turn green. Flowers were blooming. Allergies were brutally unkind. Similasan products to the rescue! I tore into the package and started using everything right away.

Similasan Allergy Eye Relief gave our eyes much needed reprieve from their itching and burning. We’ve been able to go hiking and on family walks without worrying about our eyes itching. I love that the ingredients are natural instead of putting harsh chemicals– such as Vasoconstrictors and antihistamines– into my eyes. We’ve been using them for weeks, and notice a huge difference.

Similasan Allergy Eye Relief contains Eyebright (Euphrasia), which is intended to temporarily relieve minor symptoms such as a thick mucus and/or watery discharge, redness, and swelling of the eyelid. Another ingredient, sabadilla, is intended to temporarily relieve minor symptoms such as watering eyes and eyelid redness. These eye drops are plant based, which is so great.

My husband is also allergic to cats. We went to visit my sister, who has two of them, and his eyes started itching and burning. I pulled out some of the handy travel eye drops, and he was able to get some relief. The travel eye drops are packaged as single-use so that you are always getting sterile eye drops on the go. Instead of having to go home because of an allergic reaction or drowsy side effects, we were able to stay and visit with family for longer.
